I recently returned from the American Society for Microbiology annual meeting in Boston, MA. The world of microbiology is truly astounding and it was great to catch-up on leading research in various fields. I also had the opportunity to give an invited talk on the amphibian microbiome bringing awareness of this largely unrecognized field to microbiologists. Some noteworthy presentations that pertain to our ongoing research were mechanistic elucidations of the Serratia marcescens type-6 secretion system and also a speaker series on the role of the virome in host-microbe health. Now back to some exciting work in the laboratory!
